Dr. Luigi De Socio graduated in Dentistry from the
University of Siena (Italy) in 1988. The theme of his
thesis was: "The treatment of fearful dental patients
during surgical procedures". Dr. De Socio did his
dental residency at " Le Scotte" Hospital of the
University of Siena and at the Private Medical Centre "San
Prospero" in Siena.
He also closely followed Dr. R. Garberoglio and Dr. F. Toffenetti,
professors of Preventive and Restorative Dentistry at the
University of Siena.
He partecipated in writing numerous publications for the "Rivista
di Odontoiatria degli Amici di Brugg".
Later
on Dr. De Socio attended the Harvard School of Dental Medicine
(Boston, Ma), receiving certificates in Periodontology
and Implantology from 1992 to 2000, therefore establishing
a close professional relationship with Dr. H.P. Weber (the
Director of Implant Dentistry) and Dr. M. Nevins (the Dean
of Continuing Education).
During
the year 2000 he attended a Clinical Research Course
oriented towards Implantology and Genetic Engineering
at Harvard University. He also visited the Genetics Institute
and the Institute for Advanced Dental Studies. While at
Harvard he was involved in patient-oriented Cognitive,
Behavioral and Relaxation Restructuring Training.
Besides
maintaining a private periodontal practice, Dr. De Socio attends
numerous national and international symposia on Periodontology,
Implantology and Holistic Medicine both as a lecturer and
a visitor.
Dr.
De Socio is a Member of several Professional Societies, including
the A.P.O.R. (Associazione Italiana di Parodontologia e
Odontoiatria Ricostruttiva) and the A.A.P. (American
Academy of Periodontology).
